It's Better to Give

At Christmas time, our church works with ABCCM to serve families in the following ways:

  • Christmas for Kids - gifts for children
  • Heat for the Holidays - paying for a family's heat bill
  • Christmas Dinner - a family's Christmas dinner

Habitat for Humanity International seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. And we love to do what we can be a part of it! We put together a team the third Saturday of every month.

Every 2nd Sunday evening of the month, we send a team to Buncombe County Correctional facility. We worship together with some of the worship team, bring a message of hope based on some of our recent Sunday morning messages, and spend time chatting (sometimes eating) and praying with the inmates. We also take their personal prayer requests and pray for them during the month. A little encouragement goes a long way for those who are incarcerated.

Let us know if you would like to participate:

Asheville Pregnancy Support Services exists to aid women, teens and families impacted by an unplanned pregnancy.  Our church supports APSS through volunteering, finances and their annual fund raisers.

We proudly support the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry financially on a regular basis, and encourage our church to volunteer their time as well.  ABCCM unites local churches to successfully minister to people in need, through crisis support, shelter, medical and prison services.

Twice a year, we team up with the Western North Carolina branch of the American Red Cross for blood drives.   Our last drive had 37 donors - 37 people willing to give a little to help a lot of others in our community and region!

Our next drive will be November 27, 2011!

Based on a 2004 count, about 2000 individuals and familes are homeless each year in Asheville.  There are many more who struggle with drug and alcohol addictions.  The Western Carolina Rescue Ministries work with many of these people to lift them from where they are and help get their lives moving in the right direction.

We go the 4th Saturday and 4th Sunday of each month.  We serve the residents first and then serve the street population.  We generally serve about 90 to 120 people each day we serve.  We are responsible for setting up the tables, serving the food, cleaning tables and resetting them, cleaning up the serving area, sweeping, mopping, etc.

There are many areas where you can serve and make a difference.
