Galatians #15
My car radio has Am – Fm – Xm. I get to make a choice about what I want to tune in to. You and I have preset mindsets. We have made choices about what we want to tune in to.
Galations 5:16-26
A legalistic, religious attempt at trying to live a godly life is to make more rules for ourselves – to try harder. However, the way God intends for us to walk with Him is by the Spirit.
“Why don't you choose to be led by the Spirit and so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence? It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time… But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. - Galations 5:18-23, The Message Bible
Living life by the Spirit is not an emotion – it's a choice. It may touch my emotions but it's my choice to be a spirit-man or a flesh-man. To walk by the Spirit, I set my mind on my spirit.
Romans 8:2-6
When you set your mind on the Spirit – you walk in life. When you set your mind on flesh things – you get sin and death. Mindsets are very powerful.
A mind set is the way your mind is set. What is your mind set?
10 Mindset Options:
1. Abundant or lacking
2. Generous or stingy
3. Happy or sad
4. To prosper or to fail
- If your mindset is conditioned to fail, you will eventually sabotage your own self.
5. To live or to exist
6. To increase or to maintain
7. I can or I can't
- Those who think they can and those who think they can't are both right.
8. Loving or contentious
- We can have a mindset of “love covers a multitude of things”, or we can have a mindset of “I'm looking for something to argue about”.
9. Forgiving or fault – finding
- Do you like to overlook things or do you like to look things over?
10. Spirit or Flesh
It all depends on your mindset. What station is your mind tuned to? Are you tuned to Spirit or tuned to flesh?
