Ready for a Fresh Start?

There’s something about the start of a new year - it makes us feel like we’re starting with a clean slate!

God is a God of new beginnings!

A new life, a new chapter, a new you - it won't happen in a day, but it can begin in a day.

Joshua 1:1-8

3 "Fresh Start" keys:

1. Let Your Past Go.

Joshua 1:2

We can look back on 2007 – or a past season in our lives – and say “glad that’s over!”  Some of it can still haunt us – past hurts, past failures, past rejections.

But it’s a new day!  Let's leave the baggage of the past, the shame, regret, and  hurt – all the things that will keep us from moving fully into what God has for us – and lay it at the feet of Jesus today.

“Forget about what's happened; don't keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new. It's bursting out! Don't you see it? There it is! I'm making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.”   - Isaiah 43:18-19 (The Message)

2. Rise Up and Get Going.

Now therefore arise.

After 40 years of wandering – it can be hard to get up and try again.  But God says “Arise!  Get going!”

“For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity.”   – Proverbs 24:16

“Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.”   – Isaiah 60:1

Isaiah 60:2-5

People & opportunity are drawn to your light, your rising.  Lift up your head to see.  You can't see looking down.  You can't see looking back.

3. Cross Over into New Territory.

There is a victory awaiting your arrival.  The waters parted when the priests put their foot in the water.

“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, ‘Why do we sit here until we die?'...”   - 2 Kings 7:3-8

Why sit here until we die?  We may die if we go, but we'll certainly die if we sit here.  Better to die as a moving target than a sitting duck!

Better to die in faith – than live in doubt.
Better to die trying - than live wondering.

You don't know what God has planned for you until you step out into His plan for you.
