Our Love is Loud! #2

Is anybody grateful for their salvation, forgiveness, new life, eternal life, and the goodness of God?

Luke 19:37-40
Psalm 24:7-10
John 4:23-24

All true love needs an expression.  Say the words.  Give the gift.  Write the card.  Worship is an expression of love, devotion, adoration!

There are 7 Hebrew words that are translated into the English word “praise”.

1. TODAH - To extend the hands in a sacrifice of praise.

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise (TODAH). Give thanks to Him; bless His name.”   - Psalm 100:4

“He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving (TODAH) honors Me; And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God.”   - Psalm 50:23

2. HALLAL - To boast, to rave, to celebrate, to make a show, to be clamorously foolish.

“Let them praise (HALLAL) His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre.”   - Psalm 149:3

“Praise (HALLAL) the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse.”   - Psalm 150:1

Church is a celebration. Church should be as big as any rock concert. Make the worship of God an outstanding event!

3. SHABACH - To address in a loud voice, to shout

“Praise (HALLAL) the LORD, all nations; Laud  (SHABACH) Him, all peoples!”   - Psalm 117:1

The main idea is not volume; the main idea is exuberant expression.

Psalm 71:23
Psalm 81:1

4. ZAMAR - To touch the strings, to make music, to celebrate in song and music

“My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing, I will sing praises (ZAMAR), even with my soul. Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn! I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the peoples; And I will sing praises to You among the nations.”   - Psalm 108:1-3

Get worship into your lifestyle - this is not a Sunday event!

5. YADAH - To worship with extended hands, to throw out the hands

Praise (YADAH) the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart, In the company of the upright and in the assembly.   - Psalm 111:1

What could be more beautiful to the heart of God than to see an assembly of uplifted hands – surrendered hearts – worshipping and expressing their love?

Psalm 63:1-4

6. BARAK - To bless, to kneel, to declare God the origin of power for success, prosperity and fertility

“Bless (BARAK) the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;”   - Psalm 103:1-2

God is not our Santa Claus, but He is our provider. He is the source of all good things. It's pleasing to God for us to recognize Him as our source.

7. TEHILLAH - The singing of hallals, to sing spontaneous songs

When you get a card from someone - you want to read what they wrote - not what Hallmark wrote. Thank God for all the new sounds and songs, but nothing will touch the heart of a Father like the words and songs from your heart.

Psalm 40:3
Psalm 22:3

“I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise (TEHILLAH) to my God while I have my being.”   - Psalm 104:33

No matter what is going on around us - God is always worthy of our worship. This is what we have to offer - this is all we have to offer!
