Blessed

Psalm 1:1-3

Cognitive dissonance is when we see something out of place and we want to resolve it to a state of “normal.”  We’ll either put something in its place - or get used to it being out of place.  

It’s the same with our vision for life.  We either resolve our circumstance to the Word – upgrade.   Or we resolve the Word to our circumstance – downgrade.

Let your life resolve to this word:  Blessed. 

Hold this picture as normal.  The will of God for your life is Blessed.  Establish Blessed as the train of thought that will guide your expectations of life.  In Isaiah, God is always calling His people back to Himself. When they return – He promises blessing.

The word “Blessed” shows up 288 times in the Bible! “Blessing” – 68 times; “Bless” – 122 times! 

Blessed – as defined in the Amplified Bible – means to be happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous - with life, joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of your outward conditions.

God’s Original intention was blessing. 

Genesis 1:26-28

God’s first move upon creating man:  He blessed them.  Be fruitful.  Multiply.  Fill the earth.  Subdue and rule. 

God’s first move was not:  Give man rules to live by. 

God created mankind with an intention to bless him.  Blessed is His default setting.

Genesis 12:1-3

God says to Abraham “I want to make you great and bless you, so that you can be a blessing.” 

We are blessed to be a blessing!  A blessed husband is a good husband; a blessed friend is a good friend. 

Let’s look at God’s promises in Deuteronomy 28:1-13:

"Now it shall be, if you will diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.”
The church – blessed by God!

"And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the Lord your God.”
Overtaken by blessing – a great way to live!

"Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. Blessed shall be the offspring of your body and the produce of your ground and the offspring of your beasts, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock.” 
Your tribe blessed!

"Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.”
Blessed in what you acquire and in your preparation.

"Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.”
Blessed coming and going.

"The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they shall come out against you one way and shall flee before you seven ways.”
God will cause your enemies to be defeated!

"The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
A commanded blessing on whatever you put your hand to.

"The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you will keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and walk in His ways.  So all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of you.  And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your beast and in the produce of your ground, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.  The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”
An open heaven to bless all the work of your hand.

"And the Lord shall make you the head and not the tail, and you only shall be above, and you shall not be underneath, if you will listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully…”
The head and not the tail.  On top of things - instead of things on top of you! 

To have God’s hand on us brings blessing.  Let’s get under the hand of God!
