Core #3 - Church

This month we're looking at core practices that will enrich your life!

Core practice #3: Be in church on a regular basis.  It's a simple but key practice.

Church is God's idea. To God everything is peripheral to the church.

Ephesians 1:23

Psalms 26:8

The glory of God dwells in the House of God.  There's a connection between goodness and loving-kindness following me all the days of my life - and being a dweller in God's house.

Psalms 27:4

Psalms 23:6

Psalms 84:2-4

David had a delight for the House of God.  It was home for David - God's House is where his heart dwelled. He yearned for it, and it was a channel of blessing to his life.

Psalms 84:10

1 Chronicles 29:2-3

Hebrews 10:22-25

Christianity is an us thing. Don't forsake assembling together.

Here is the reality: Everyone has habits that they develop.  You can get in the habit of going to church, or you can fall out of the habit of going to church.

Forget the excuses - the truth is: you do want you want to do.

7 Great Reasons to Attend Church on a Regular Basis:

1. It's a practical, tangible way to put God first.

Exodus 20:8

God has His top ten list - the Ten Commandments. One of them is to set aside one day of the week where you will honor Him.

God's rhythm for life starts from Sunday. It honors God to support His bride - the church.

2. The corporate worship experience.

I have a personal worship life - but there is no substitute for the worship experience we have together.

How many times have I been touched in the presence of God - by the presence of God - as we worshipped together.

3. Consistent exposure to the Word of God.

We are bombarded by negative messages all week. Weekly attendance in church counters that paradigm with the Word of God.

One word from God can change your whole life.

4. It's a great investment into your family.

It amazes me how people will not consider their kids when they are dropping out of church.

Primary influencers for kids are parents - but they need other examples as well.

5. It's an opportunity to serve others.

Many people come to church having had a tough week -the world is beating them up.  Church gives you an opportunity to love people, bless them, encourage them.

The Bible isn't asking us to go to a meeting - it's asking us to lay down our lives.

6. It's a great place to meet amazing people.

I know there are some weird people at church. There are some hypocrites there too.  Those people are everywhere else you go as well.

When you go to a bar to you meet bar people. If you want to meet faith people - you need to go where the faith people are.

7. You can receive from the corporate anointing.

Psalms 133:1-3

Some problems are too much to figure out - you need an anointing from God. There is an anointing that flows down from the head of every church.

Psalms 73:1 -3

Psalms 73:15-17

Church is where God is! Don't do life alone. Get under the covering of a church, surrounded by people who want to do life with you.
