Hebrews 12:27-29

I hope we realize that anything that can be shaken will be shaken.

Created things can be shaken. These are things that can be touched, smelled, seen, etc.

The invisible things of God, however, will remain.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

The things that are seen, our stuff, are temporal.  The things that are not seen are eternal.

We want to recenter on things that really matter and build our lives on things that will matter for all eternity.

Although our style has changed, you would have seen us still declaring Jesus, His work on the cross and the goodness of God. Those are the eternal things that matter.

The good thing about a good shaking is that it gets us back to basics.

What is our best response to things shaking up?

The best thing you can do when bad news shows up at your doorstep is to start worshipping God.

You may not feel like worshipping God – it doesn’t feel authentic – but guess what: God does not change! 

God remains the same no matter what is going on around me. God is still God and worthy of praise.

Worshipping God - especially in the middle of a storm - is one of the most centering things you can do.

Matthew 7:24-27

Storms will come - to all of us. Shakings will come – to all of us. No matter how spiritual we are - storms will come and test the stability of our house.

Matthew 5:45

Rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous. The sun shines on everyone.

Good things happen to bad people - Bad things happen to bad people
Good things happen to good people - Bad things happen to good people

What happens – happens to all of us. It is not unique to any of us.

Remember, we have a God to turn to. His nature is Redeemer – which means He fixes it!

Bad happens – God fixes.

Matthew 7:24-27 (Message)

God’s Word - God’s Ways - are not additions, they are foundations.  We can’t pick and choose what rules to follow – we have to swallow the whole Word of God.

We don’t set the guidelines – God does. He says: Jesus is the only Way, sex is only for a married man and woman, tithing brings blessing and there’s a law of sowing and reaping.

Storm-proof is the best way to live. Build your life – marriage, finances, relationships, ethics – to survive storms, not to just enjoy the sunshine.

Hebrews 2:1-3

It is possible to drift off center. What was level has now shifted.  A compromise here or there - we start building off of an unlevel foundation.

Just because you’re holding a level – does not mean you are level.

The Holy Spirit can come into your life to point out those things that need to become level.

Storms will come - Shaking will come - I want your house standing through it all!
