There’s a Chinese proverb that say that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago and the next best time is now.

The best way to predict the future is to create it. You do not have all power over all things in the future, but you do have more power over it than you think. You have power over your relationships, health, finances and your walk with God. You can sow seed, think thoughts and align your actions based on a vision for the future.

We’re taking a few weeks to talk about what’s NEXT.

1 Chronicles 12:32

You don’t drift into a great future - some level of intentionality is necessary.

You were born with a destiny in mind. You were born with a ministry in you. Much of what you will fulfill as a Christian is tied up with the church you’ve planted your roots in.

You are in sync with God’s intention of the future and not just your own. We are here to serve Him, and not just here to serve us. I want us to focus on who’s next - not just what’s next.

Every person in our city is going to heaven or hell to spend eternity. Let’s understand something – there are some people that only our church can reach.

This has to matter to us: Who is the next person God wants us to reach?

We are the only people who have the answer about eternity. Anyone can give blood or serve food to the poor - but only we can share the message of eternity.

There are people who need God now.  We’re writing names on the wall of people we want to see get saved.  Every name written on our walls has a story, a purpose, heartache, a dream - and they will spend eternity somewhere. This has to matter to us.

We want to make it hard for people from Asheville to go to hell.

There are a lot of people who are totally out of touch with God’s heart for them. It’s not my intention to turn us into belligerent tract pushers - but our concern level for their eternity has to be awakened.

Let’s build a church that reaches people who are far from God. Will you pray – give - serve – work - put your best effort into making God’s house amazing?

Will you grow up to become a contributor and not just a consumer? Don’t keep asking for more hot water for your bath when some have never had a chance to take a bath!

I am asking for your best for God’s glory!

Hebrews 9:27

Here’s the truth – you and I are going to die. We’re going to face a judgment before God.

Part of the judgment will be whether you’ve accepted or rejected Christ. There’s another judgment of believers that will assess how we’ve lived our life. Did we take God’s blessing for our selfishness or to help people stay out of hell?

Mark 8:36

It is possible for us to get so deep, so practical, so busy, or so pre-occupied just trying to make ends meet that we end up bypassing this hugely important truth.

People will spend eternity somewhere. Does that matter to you?

Luke 12:15 - 21

Your life is not just about the accumulation of more stuff. It is not about your convenience.  It would be a tragedy if we taught you how to prosper in life and we didn’t teach you the reason.

I want you blessed, our church wants you blessed and God wants you blessed.

However, if you don’t spend your blessing on what matters for eternity, we have missed the whole point.
