Today we’re focusing on the NEXT generation.
The descendants of the upright will be mighty on earth. The generation of the upright will be blessed.
The legacy of our descendants is a strong Biblical theme. Our sons, our daughters, those who come after us – we are to equip them to lead and build God’s Kingdom.
God is referred to as The God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. Three generations to carry out God’s heart.
We live in a microwave, fast-food nation. We like things to happen fast. However, we have to consider the Biblical concept that God’s purpose takes generations to accomplish.
Our descendants are carrying our legacy. Our kids have been entrusted to us because God has a purpose for their lives. The Next generation is taking what we started and taking it to higher and greater levels. Because this is true, don’t you know that the enemy is targeting the Next generation?
When we purchased this land for our church building, we found out that the Methodist used to have their camp meetings on this very piece of property. We discovered we were the answer to the prayers of a previous generation.
We are their legacy. They were the foundation for where we are now - Now we are the foundation for the Next generation.
We are all the legacy of someone. What legacy will we leave? What have I given as a legacy for the cause of Christ on the earth?
Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek. Levi was 100 years downstream from Abraham, but Abraham’s actions had an effect on Levi.
I believe this - my tithing today can pass on a blessing to my descendants 100 years down the road. If I were to quit on God – it would have an impact on my descendants 100 years down the road.
God knows the future generations that will come out of our church. He sees what will come out of the kids and teens we are reaching today.
There is a battle on for the hearts and minds of the next generation.
When I was 18 God intervened into my life. I was on drugs - going nowhere but down. Thank God for a local church that prayed for me.
This church was in my spiritual loins when God brought us to Asheville. And over the years, thousands have been saved. People have been lifted, changed and helped.
Now God has brought us into a place of blessing. My generation has been blessed in order to pass a blessing on the next generation. I’m thankful I’m not passing on addictions, poverty or brokenness.
The blessing I want to pass on is way more than “stuff”. I want to see an inheritance of salvation, favor, peace, love, abundance, anointing, and wholeness.
The stats are telling us 35% of Baby Boomers, 11% of Gen X and only 4% of Gen Y confess faith in Christ.
We have a decision to make. I’m asking you to choose legacy over immediacy. We’re standing on the shoulders of a predecessor – how about WE be the shoulders that someone else can stand upon?
The Church is built with a trans–generational mentality. God put a vision into David’s heart for the house of God - A house exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious in the earth.
David was given the vision, but it was Solomon’s work to actually build it. David made the preparation for Solomon to succeed.
David was thinking ahead past his own immediacy and into creating a legacy. As Solomon grew up in his house, David impressed that vision into the heart of his son.
We don’t want our kids growing up thinking the house of God is a house of leftovers. Our Kingdom Builders pledges are made with a Next generation mindset.
We’re providing atmosphere, color, great settings for our church, for our kids and for our God. Maybe more important than the new settings we provide will be the impression we leave in our children.
God’s house deserves the best – He is exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious!
We are establishing a culture that raises spiritual sons and daughters to take the baton of our vision, values, and provision so they can run further than us.
The greatest legacy we could leave is to impress our kids with a magnificent vision for God’s house in the earth. What are you passing down to your kids?
