Keep Asheville Weird #1 - Trust
Asheville is a unique town - we win all sorts of attention and accolades. Which is why this series is titled, “Keep Asheville Weird.”
For us as Christians, we know that God’s Kingdom and God’s way of doing things are often very different from the way the world does them.
Jesus instructs us that we are to be in the world, but not of the world. My challenge to you during this series will be to “Keep Asheville Weird” by living God’s way. God's Kingdom is built on trust. On faith.
Psalm 37 gives us four different angles from which we can trust God:
1. Stay Steady (verse 3)
Dwell (live) where you are - not on where you aren't. Some people are constantly striving, looking for something new, thinking they’ll find success. Be faithful where you are and cultivate faithfulness. Trust God that if you keep your post, He will reward you, and He will see to your promotion.
2. Delight Right (verse 4)
If we put God first in our delights, He will give us the desires of our hearts.
Continue to put God first and He will give you the desires of your heart.
3. Take the Load Off (verse 5)
1 Peter 5:7
God really cares for YOU. Cast your cares on Him because He cares for you.
4. Come to a Rest (verse 7)
Rest. Be patient. These aren’t trendy ideas today. Instead of forcing an issue – rest in the Lord. Trust in God.
As you go about your life, you will be tempted to take the reigns from God and work out a situation yourself. But, we are called to trust in Him.
We can face an uncertain future because of the certainty of God.
