Remember to Rejoice - Joy #13
Joy: Remember to Rejoice
Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you.
Remember God’s faithfulness. Remember what is good in your life, what you have accomplished and who loves you. The value of rejoicing in your walk with God cannot be overstated.
1. Joy is foundational
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Joy is a foundational issue, not an addendum. Joy comes first!
2. Joy is your strength
Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said to them, "Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
When your joy is full, your strength is full and your boldness is strong.
3. Joy creates the right atmosphere
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Be positive with your attitude and your atmosphere. Choose to create a positive atmosphere for God to work.
4. Joy is a character quality, not a personality issue
The harvest of a relationship with the Holy Spirit is joy.
5. Joy fills your tank
John 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
Jesus is very concerned that our joy be full. He wants us to live lives of fullness.
6. Don’t Postpone Joy
James 1:2-4 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Don’t wait for your trials to be over to rejoice. That day will never come. Instead, make up your mind to walk in joy no matter your circumstances.
7. Rejoice always
Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
This is a command, not a suggestion. Other things can bring joy, but make sure your rejoicing is in the Lord.
Joy is a choice made possible because of our confidence in God’s love and care!
