Wide Open Spaces #1
“Wide Open Spaces” is a journey through 2 Corinthians. It’s Paul reaching out to the Corinthian church (which is a mess) to encourage them to live the life God has given them. He declares to them what God has done for them, the promises He has made for them, and the wide-open spaces that are available because of Jesus.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Our God is a God of covenant. The New Testament’s covenant is through Jesus. When we come into relationship with Jesus, we enter God’s covenant with Jesus. God’s covenant with us is built on His promises to us, not on our behavior.
Good behavior does not earn God’s promise - good behavior is the result of being right with God. It’s our faith that receives God’s promise. We are able to receive what God has for us because of what Jesus did for us on the cross - He’s done all that needs to be done.
2 Peter 1:3-4
God has provided us with everything we need for life and godliness. All we have to do to access God’s covenant power is to locate a promise from His word. Wherever your need is – ministry, marriage, finances, your kids – locate a promise that relates to your need! Your need may only exist to teach you how to access the goodness of God!
There are promises throughout the Bible, but these are some that I circle back around to over and over again: 2 Corinthians 9:8, Deuteronomy 8:18, Mark 11:23-24, John 14:12, Matthew 7:7, Mark 9:23, Romans 8:28
Those are pretty amazing promises! A life aligned with those eight verses would be an amazing life – a wide-open spaces life!
God says Yes to us because of what Jesus did on the cross. Through Jesus’ covenant with God, we say Amen. God’s Yes and our Amen are both important. God doesn’t move in your world beyond your permission All The promises are yes to us, life is a green light! Our Amen is our Yes to God. It takes His Yes and our Yes for the manifestation.
The promise of God does not come by your effort but it does require your participation. Give your Amen to God and see what Wide Open Spaces you discover!
